This is my second .50 cal machine gun sculpture, the first I made 20 some years ago. I did not have the money to own real machine guns, so I made sculptures instead a .50 cal and a MG 42. People would visit and asked were did you find the old machine guns .I would have so much fun making up stories how I got it off one of the old WWII bombers left out in the desert and half way though the plea’s to take them out there, they would realize ... you......made this. Anyway times got hard and I needed to sell everything I didn't need or have room for living in a travel trailer, I filled up my van and headed to the Flea market. I didn’t have any intent on selling them but knew they would attract attention. Even before I could finish unloading I had 3 cops wanting to know if they were real, then everyone had to check them out . I sold EVERYTHING I bought. The guns were ice breakers, people made jokes I made jokes ,people took pictures or had pictures taken with them. I had a great time , everyone wanted to hold or play with my guns and in the end I sold my guns but A Idea was born - what a fun retail sales TOOL! It comes apart The base weights about 7o pounds, and the gun about 5o pounds . The gun is movable up ,down, swivels and I,ve enjoyed this sculpture for a while so there's a good coat of old rust , I love the color of rust . The corroded belted ammo is inert but real as the ammo can . Of course this is not a copy of a real gun ,but a tongue and cheek version. The Sculpture is 5 foot high and about 6 ½ with the barrel pointed in the air. The base was modified 2/25/19 to a wider bottom to stand without any possibility of ever falling over, and I really love how the flywheel tooth ring and some cut up rims and a chain tie down ratchet work with the base
