The Blohm & Voss Long-range float plane was first tested by the Germans in November 1937 and was in production by April 1940 . A total of 276 were build . Used in air sea rescue , as personnel transport, air mail and patrol duties. Powered by 3 Junkers 205 D liquid-cooled six-cylinder diesel engines, It could be refueled by a submarine .
