10x16 watercolor paper , there is a place along the Mogollon rim were I always camped for a couple of days every camping trip, In the begining I stayed there for close to a week in my 2 wheel drive Van , later I would find other spots having a 4 wheel drive , but I had to stop at lease for a night or two to see my spot and hike another trail. most of the campsites were in thick trees so I couldn,t see the other mountains ,but one site had a clear veiw of the next mountain so I got out my watercolors and painted it, this was the early days when I still camped in my van . A couple of years ago there was a big fire which burned the whole area, I couldn't bring myself to look . Than on my way back from New Mexico (new Heaven ) I pulled in and followed the road all the area around was burnt, but my mountain top was still there ,so was a lot of cattle so camping was not the same

Update: I stopped there for a night {2018} there had been another fire , and the very top of the mountain with the campsites was still there, but very little else. The trail to rose canyon is gone forever. the trees that were left after the fire were cut down and logged out. I guess it will be a great place to hunt ,lots of food and no cover .
