Spotted by a Cat
20”x30” pen and ink and acrylic paint applied with airbrush. In this composition a submarine caught on the surface is ponced on by a Catalina. The pilot banks the PBY Catalina to give the nose and side blisters a better shot. My love affair with the Catalina started when I lived in Catalina AZ and worked on boats or maybe because the Catalina is large and slow but can go the distance. But than again I do like to RESCUE people. Patrol and rescue are what the Catalina was known for and it did have limited strafing and bombing capabilities. Long range patrol means kitchen, toilet and beds kinda like a motor home that can land on water. The PBY played a important role in WWII and makes my list as one of the top 10 greatest planes 150.00$
